As part of the 2018-2019 Patron of the Arts season, we offer a variety of concert series highlighting UTRGV talent and nationally and internationally-recognized guest artists. Click through the series below to see the upcoming performances for each one.

This year, our Distinguished Artist Series spans a range from solo to orchestral performances. The award-winning Russian String Orchestra (also known as Misha’s Gang) will bring some extraordinary string performance to the RGV as they tour the United States with a flexible repertoire. The other ensemble performances include the Maldito Tango Duo with tango music at its best.

Solo performances by saxophonist Ashu, who the Chicago Tribune describes as “just as much fun to watch as to listen to,” Russian pianist Yury Martynov, guitarist Andrew Zohn, and composer and cellist Gabriel Royal, who started as a subway performer and who will sing original pop-influenced works along with his cello, round out the series.
